Video game reviews: ‘Wii Sports Resort’
Los Angeles Times
While its sequel Wii Sports Resort won’t change anything per se — even with the included Wii Motion Plus dongle that enhances the sensitivity of the Wii controllers — it is one of the best and most diverse Wii titles to date. There is something for everyone in this package which hit store shelves Sunday. With features including a full 18-hole golf game (played over one of six picturesque courses) swordplay battles (what “Star Wars” games on the Wii should be like) and air sports (such as stunt flying and sky diving) the smooth simple controls and peppy fun make this “resort” a required destination for every Wii owner. Starring the Mii of your choosing (and populated by other Miis in your collection) gamers have more than a dozen different types of sports unlocked from the start and can quickly unlock additional variations of some events after playing a short time.

Kuwait changes sports laws averts lympic ban
The Associated Press
The International lympic Committee said it was satisfied that a July 20 decision by the Kuwaiti Council of Ministers meant new laws would be created to protect the independence of sports federations in the Gulf state. “We are very pleased that the Kuwaiti authorities are showing their willingness to implement satisfactory measures in order to avoid the suspension of the Kuwait lympic Committee” Pere Miro director of the IC’s department for national relations said in a statement. Kuwait’s laws breach the lympic Charter by allowing politicians to interfere with elections of sports organizations. The IC executive board warned Kuwait in June and IC president Jacques Rogge led a meeting between the parties two weeks ago. Kuwait was then given until the end of the year to change its laws on condition the process started by the end of July. The IC reminded Kuwait on Tuesday that the Dec. 31 target will not be extended and offered “technical assistance” to meet its deadline.
Sports digest: Favre staying retired

“It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made” Favre 39 told ESPN. “I didn’t feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable. I would like to thank everyone including the Packers Jets and Vikings — but most importantly the fans. “Last year Favre tearfully retired from the Green Bay Packers after 17 seasons in the NFL then made an about-face and was traded to the New York Jets.
