The university said Monday that its partnership with IMG College and Radihio gives the companies the rights to manage and market publishing related to hio State sports as well as radio game play-by-play and coaches’ shows. The contract also covers television not included in Big Ten Conference and NCAA contracts. In a statement athletic director Gene Smith says the arrangement will help maintain the financial stability of hio State’s 36 sports. The deal with IMG College and Radihio also allows them to seek corporate sponsorships coaches’ endorsements and sign advertising.

The sports cable giant also said Monday that it had signed up several more directors as part of its ambitious program which aims to match noted filmmakers with subjects they’re passionate about. Barbara Kopple will direct a documentary about the Steinbrenners examining the transfer of power from the polarizing New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner to his children. Kopple known for intimate portrayals of subjects such as Woody Allen (“Wild Man Blues”) and the Dixie Chicks (“Shut Up & Sing”) has already begun work on the documentary and will be shooting at the opening of the new Yankee Stadium on Friday. Albert Maysles meanwhile will revisit Muhammad Ali’s 1980 bout against Larry Holmes when the heavyweight champion took on the up-and-coming Holmes.
