“Just happy it’s over and concerned about next year” said Don Desroches a Wantagh SS spokesman and father of two. Already Wantagh SS has paid more than $430000 to the district – enough to save more than three dozen sports teams and activities ranging from the high school yearbook to a middle school drama production. According to the group’s latest letter a final payment will be made soon – and ahead of the Feb. 1 deadline – to preserve another six teams in spring sports at the middle school level along with a high school musical plays and other activities.
