The company franchises youth sports leagues and offers games and activities in sports such as flag football basketball soccer and cheerleading for ages four to 14 said a news release. The Florida-based company said the decision to move into the Birmingham area was based on studies showing large numbers of families with children between their target age group and a need for youth sports programs. “We’ve done extensive market research and found that parents in Birmingham are looking for new ways to keep their kids active without exposing them to the win-at-all-costs atmosphere that has given youth sports a negative reputation” said Christy Atlas director of marketing for i9 Sports. “The i9 Sports franchise opportunity allows local entrepreneurs to thrive in a challenging economic climate while providing children throughout the area a positive youth sports experience.
