The series will consist of five one-hour specials airing at midnights in March and April. There will be “absolutely zero discussion of gambling or betting lines within the program” promises FSN spokesman Justin Simon. The show won’t be filmed inside the Wynn Las Vegas Race & Sports Book he adds or any setting that shows gambling in the background. Says Simon: “FSN won’t air any college basketball-related programming that contains gambling or has any references to gambling. But college basketball has been racked with multiple point-shaving scandals. Anti-gambling activists says it’s a mistake for two of the sport’s most famous faces to associate themselves and the NCAA crown jewel tournament with sports betting. “The NCAA should have enough clout to stop something like this.

Politicians who climb into the sports arena make me question their intent. Are they grandstanding or is there legitimate concern? Then again given the brutal nature of the game football players need extra protection from assorted wolves in the industry whether they be commissioners owners agents or even their own union. With so much riding on this selection process the players need a good shepherd. Two major issues confronting the union are a possible lockout by the owners and repairing the badly damaged relationship between active and retired players. This may be the first real election in the history of the players association.
