The FIA confirmed however that there had been considerableinterest since the latest details were outlined by Max Mosleylast week. “Since the President’s letter last Friday there has been avery positive response from the Formula One teams regarding ourengine proposals” said a spokesman. “It would however be inappropriate to comment on the statusof any individual teams or to give any further details inadvance of the World Motor Sport Council meeting on Friday. Friday’s meeting follows talks between the teams’sassociation FOTA and FIA President Max Mosley in theMediterranean principality on Wednesday. It also comes after Honda’s shock decision last week to quitthe championship a move that would leave just nine teams andhas prompted fears of other manufacturers being blown out by theglobal economic storm. One team source said the meetings were crucial for thelong-term future of the sport. REAL URGENCY “They (the teams) are certainly making an effort” Mosleysaid last week after FOTA met to discuss their own cost-cuttingplans.
