WelchUSA TODAY Hundreds of children in state care following removal from a West Texas polygamist compound were moved Monday to a sports arena, and some were separated from their mothers for their own safety, a state official said. The relocation by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services came as a state court grappled with the complexities of one of the nation’s largest child-custody cases. Last week, 416 children were removed from the Yearning for Zion Ranch, a 1,691-acre farm and residential community near Eldorado, Texas, and home to members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS). The sect is not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormon Church. Until Monday, 139 mothers had been permitted to voluntarily remain with their children in state protective custody at Fort Concho in San Angelo, Texas, about 45 miles from the ranch.

Series data show 95% of its fan base is in the 18- to 34-year-old demographic; 93% own a video game.

9, 1969, during a crucial two-game series between the Cubs and Mets, a black cat suddenly jumped onto the field at New York’s Shea Stadium, running in front of the Cubs dugout. The Mets won 7-1, to sweep the two games and pull within a half-game of the Cubs for the division lead. The Mets ultimately pulled away to win the division by eight games, then went on to their “miracle” post-season World Series championship over the Baltimore Orioles.
