Djokovic needed just 23 minutes to win the first set and was pushed to 40
minutes in the second, but the third was a grueling one, lasting 71 minutes. Ferrer fought off four match points and after seven times at deuce won the
ninth game to get within 5-4. Djokovic looked winded, but he had a couple of
minutes at the changeover to gather himself. Ferrer then broke his opponent,
but faltered by sending a forehand wide to fall behind by a break again.
