Boston College won, 24-21. ORLANDO — Michigan State went into the Champs Sports Bowl determined to be better than average against No. 14-ranked Boston College’s top-rated rushing defense. And, with an opponent season-high 172 yards on the ground, the Spartans certainly were against a unit that was allowing 68. But it was a below-average performance against the Eagle pass defense, which intercepted four Brian Hoyer passes and recovered his fumbled snap, that doomed MSU to a 24-21 defeat Friday night in Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
