Soccer-McClaren sacked as England boss – Sky Sports News – Soccer

The Football Association had still not made an officialstatement but McClaren’s 19-month reign in charge appeared overfollowing the 3-2 defeat by Croatia at Wembley. A Football Association statement was to be made at 0945 GMT. England needed just a draw against Croatia to seal a placein Euro 2008 but defeat means they will be missing from a majorfinals for the first time since the 1994 World Cup. A 12-man FA board met from 0830 GMT for an emergency meetingon Thursday to discuss McClaren’s future.

Diard will hand over to Michael Schineis who will manage Salomon together with Atomic Amer Sports’s other core winter sports business which he already heads. Schineis has been with Amer since 1996 and has extensive experience of both brands the company said. Amer said that as part of the reorganisation it will also form a new entity comprising of its Arc’teryx clothing brand and the clothing and footwear part of Salomon. It has put Jean-Marc Pambet — currently the general manager of Salomon Apparel and Footwear — in charge of the new unit.

BMW Oracle Racing is currently involved in a court case with two-time defending champion Alinghi over Desafio Espanol’s status as official challenger. On the race web site an official release stated that due to the uncertainty over the outcome of the court case it was the decision of the organizers to postpone the event for 2009 which was scheduled to take place from May to July in Valencia Spain.
