The pole victory was Massa’s third in a row at Interlagos sixth of the season and the 15th of his Formula One career. The Ferrari driver enters the Brazilian GP seven points behind McLaren rival Lewis Hamilton.

The result was a 1-stroke lead for the Swedish-born player Saturday through three rounds of the Fry's Electronics Open at Scottsdale Ariz. Mark Hensby playing in the same group shared the lead until twice hitting into sand traps en route to a bogey on the par-4 18th. With temperatures reaching into the low 90s Pettersson shot a 6-under-par 64 on Saturday tied for the best round of the day and was at 13-under 197 in the Fall Series event on the 7125-yard Raptor course at Grayhawk Golf Club. “I played nice” Pettersson said.

Bute a 27-year-old Romanian now living in ‘la belle province’ earned a title in his first shot. He was coming off a unanimous 12-round decision over Sakio Bika in a title eliminator on June 15. Berrio (26-5) surprised unbeaten Yusef Mack by sixth-round stoppage in a May 2006 eliminator then claimed the vacant crown with a third-round blowout of former conqueror Robert Stieglitz on March 3 in Germany.

– Jason Ricks kicked a 26-yard field goal with 2 seconds remaining and Oklahoma State overcame the best passing performance of Josh Freeman’s career to beat No. 25 Kansas State 41-39 Saturday night. The Wildcats (4-3 2-2 Big 12) called all three of their timeouts as Ricks was setting up but his kick was right down the middle to cap a comeback made necessary when K-State coach Ron Prince decided to go for two points instead of the tie after Leon Patton’s 11-yard touchdown run with 1:10 remaining. Josh Freeman threw for a career-best 404 yards and three touchdowns to star receiver Jordy Nelson who also caught the go-ahead 2-point conversion but it wasn’t enough for the Wildcats. Tommy Devereaux returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oklahoma State 42 and Zac Robinson threw a 24-yard pass that tailback Dantrell Savage leaped and twisted to catch to set up Ricks’ field goal.
