Ibragimov remained undefeated at 22-0-1 while Holyfield’s bid to become heavyweight champ for the fifth time in his career fell short. The 44-year-old Holyfield came out as the aggressor in the early rounds to catch Ibragimov off guard. At the end of the round two Holyfield landed a right jab to the side of Ibragimov’s face to stun the Russian. As the bout progressed an aggressive Holyfield began to wear down as Ibragimov remained patient with his punch selection.

    Seattle Post-Intelligencer: Other Sports
    Seattle Post Intelligencer – Oct 13, 2007
The top-seeded Jankovic bounced back from a disastrous first set to post a 0-6 6-1 6-0 victory over third-seeded Russian Elena Dementieva while the seventh-seeded Zvonareva knocked off second-seeded countrymate Dinara Safina 6-2 7-6 (7-5). Jankovic won the battle of Beijing champions as she took home the WTA event in the Olympic city two weeks ago and Dementieva was the Olympic gold medalist in August. It appeared as though Dementieva would win this matchup after a dominant first set in which she connected on each of her 12 first serves and won 27 of the 32 points played. Jankovic though rebounded and broke serve three times in the second set while saving three break points against her own serve.

Needing just seven second-innings runs to break Javed Miandad’s record Inzamam was stumped by South Africa wicketkeeper Mark Boucher off the bowling of spinner Paul Harris for three during Pakistan’s second innings. The match finished in a draw handing South Africa a 1-0 series victory. Boxing Evander Holyfield attempts to become heavyweight world champion for a record fifth time when he fights Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow tonight. If the 44-year-old American beats the Russian WBO heavyweight title-holder who is 12 years his junior he will also become the second-oldest fighter to hold a world heavyweight title.

GAMES THEY PLAY A mix of their favourite sports will help children…
    Hindu – Oct 13, 2007
Children are not aware of physical activity and exercise but they certainly know how to play. Parents who are keen on exercise as a healthful activity like to control their wards but children just hate regimented play. When play morphs into exercise children often tune out and retreat to computer games and television. Parents need to know how to keep their children interested in exercise without making it seem mandatory.

What parents need to know about sports
San Diego Union Tribune – Oct 13, 2007
Over time he asked for lessons then to play in a few tournaments. He was a solid player and I thought eventually might be good enough to get a scholarship. That's what we all think says Roger Blake assistant executive director of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) the governing body of high school sports.
