They rejoiced at the arrival of the Nationals but that meant a huge added expense at The Post. Baseball is more costly to cover than any other sport because there are so many games and the travel costs are so high. To cover the Nationals Sports gave up minor-league baseball. Do it with stringers one reader begged.

– Four football players from Homer High School havebeen suspended for holding a freshman down and stripping him at theteam’s field house while another student took pictures with a cellphone. The freshman was suspended for bringing a clip of ammunition toschool although he didn’t bring a gun. Claiborne Schools Superintendent Wayne King declined comment onthe incident saying privacy guidelines prohibit him fromdiscussing what happened but The Times of Shreveport and KTBS-TVwere shown suspension letters which briefly described the incidentthis week. School system officials consider the incident hazing but thefather of one suspended student told KTBS-TV it was horseplay anda football team ritual that got out of hand. The freshman’s mother said she is satisfied with the school’saction but declined further comment.
