Sports Network – Sep 22, 2007
United States (2-0-1) 8 a. Tianjin China (Sports Network) – The United States won the “Group of Death” without playing its best soccer something it likely can’t get away with in the quarterfinals Saturday against England. The United States didn’t lose in group play but had just five goals – tied for seventh out of 16 teams – and were shaky at times on defense. The Americans ranked No. 1 by FIFA feel like the easy fix is simply to play to their capabilities.
