Beijing organizers highlighted the importance of sports and the spirit of the lympic Movement saying they are making efforts to get more people involved in sports. Xu Chuan deputy director of “Sport for All” State Admin of Sport said “We think one of the criteria for a successful lympics is that the lympic spirit and movement will further prevail across the host nation even worldwide. About 65 sporting events will be held across major cities in China this year.

Coming off a victory last week at the AT& T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Phil Mickelson was 3 shots back tied with Briny Baird. Jim Furyk and Cameron Beckman are both 4 strokes behind. In his first competitive round on the generally challenging Riviera layout Harrington carded 10 birdies and two bogeys as he built an early cushion. But with three rounds left and half of the field still out on the course he wouldn't let himself get the least bit ahead of himself after the round.
