If you’re thinking of laying down a bet on the outcome of the game now is the time — with one week left before the opening kickoff you’ll get good odds at online sports books or Nevada casinos. Peter Ryan who was in charge of security at the 2000 Sydney lympics said the threat was not just to stadiums but also to public areas and electricity stations. “We have in my view been extremely lucky that the first division as I call the top level of terrorist groups have not targeted a large major event for many years” Ryan said Thursday at a sports security conference. “It’s probably just a matter of time. ” Ryan was also the principal security adviser for the 2004 Athens lympics.

Casualties will include men’s indoor track and field men’s outdoor track and field women’s lacrosse and men’s swimming and diving to help deal with a budget crunch in the athletic department. The cuts will leave the Mid-American Conference school with a roster of 16 varsity sports. Track and field has a long history at hio dating to the early 1900s. Swimming and diving became a varsity sport for men in 1935 and the hio women first competed in lacrosse in the late 1960s.
