    Sports Agent Charged in Cuban Baseball-Player Smuggling Scheme

Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced today the indictment of Beverly Hills Calif. sports agent Gustavo “Gus” Dominguez charging him with smuggling potential Major League baseball players from Cuba to the United States. The indictment unsealed today in a Miami federal court alleges that Dominguez along with four others conspired to use go-fast boats to smuggle Cubans to the United States and to house and shelter Cuban baseball players in California. According to the indictment “It was the purpose and object of the conspiracy for the defendants to unlawfully enrich themselves by smuggling Cuban Major League baseball prospects as well as other Cuban nationals. “The ringleaders put the lives of illegal immigrants at risk and sought to profit from their labor” ICE Assistant Secretary Julie Myers said in a statement.

    rganised by the Welsh Language Development fficer at the Welsh Sports Association the course is the first of its kind to be offered to NGB staff and associated partners. Stepping back into the classroom to take advantage of the opportunity will be representatives from golf sailing canoeing the Federation of Disability Sport Wales gymnastics netball football and rugby alongside senior staff from the Sports Council for Wales. In partnership with Cardiff University and the Urdd lessons will be delivered through a combination of introductory sessions and intense practical work tailored to the everyday requirements of sport development in Wales. The course running in Llangrannog on 6th and 7th November 2006 forms part of a wider strategy aimed at developing sport through the Welsh language and the language through sport.
