    It was clear there would not be many more public appearances for Red Auerbach. The reporters squeezed around him in a noisy corridor of a new arena that would never measure up to the funky departed Boston Garden where Auerbach once controlled everything perhaps even secret heat valves for steamy June afternoons. 2 we wanted to hear what the patriarch had to say and whether he had mellowed from the gruff maestro he once had been.

Not covered are incidentals transportation supplementary books and other expenses that cost another $2500 a year on average. The plaintiffs in the class-action suit White vs. NCAA that was filed in February argue that schools should be allowed to cover all expenses up to the official cost of attendance.

    1 Roger Federer has decided to withdraw from this week’s Masters Series event in Paris citing exhaustion. The reigning Wimbledon U. pen and Australian pen titlist Federer played each of the past two weeks winning tournaments in Madrid and his hometown of Basel. He has won each of his last four events starting with the U.
