The International Ski Federation is asking the International lympic Committee executive board to approve the three new disciplines when it meets in Kuwait in late November. Individual curling and team luge could also be possible additions to the program. The IC’s program commission met two weeks ago to review the sports at the Torino Games in February. The panel will submit recommendations to the IC board in Kuwait. Ski jumping and Nordic combined — involving ski jumping and cross country skiing — are the only events in the Winter Games in which women don’t compete. Women’s ski jumping has become increasingly popular in Europe the United States and Japan since the Continental Cup series for women was introduced in 2004-2005. Ski-cross a freestyle event is similar to snowboard-cross which made its debut in Torino and drew big crowds.
