James Blake salvaged the final match for the Americans with a 7-5 7-6 (7-4) victory over Marat Safin to set the final score at 3-2. Russia will play Argentina for the Davis Cup crown in December.

After clinching the best-of-five tie with Saturday’s doubles triumph the singles on Sunday were inconsequential. The Argentines reached the Davis Cup final for the first time since 1981 and will play Russia in December for the crown.
