Big East ESPN agree to six-year deal – College Sports

The basketball deal which begins in 2007-08 includes every Big East intra-conference men’s basketball game on ESPN ESPN2 ESPNU ESPN360 or ESPN Regional television (except for select games on CBS). Big Monday will continue as will a second weekly time slot on Thursday nights (on either ESPN or ESPN2). The football part of the deal means ESPN and ABC Sports will be the exclusive cable and broadcast homes for Big East football. Women’s basketball will make approximately 11 regular-season appearances on ESPN or ESPN2 each year in addition to the conference championship. “As a mainstay on ESPN for nearly three decades the Big East has delivered many memorable moments” Bodenheimer said. “We are thrilled to expand that long-standing relationship through this unprecedented collaborative effort which will supply conference action to fans however they experience sports. “Said Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese added: “This agreement means so much to the Big East.

Now the threat of Tropical Storm Ernesto will make that chore even tougher. University officials have canceled classes until Thursday in anticipation of the storm which could begin lashing South Florida sometime today or tomorrow. The Hurricanes will practice again this morning long before Ernesto’s anticipated arrival then probably won’t resume workouts until at least Thursday — an interruption that Miami coach Larry Coker didn’t want to see coming.

The objective of the establishment in 1990 by the IC Medical Commission of a Special Collection of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at the IC Library was to enhance the availability of this important information to professional persons who work with individual athletes and with sport teams. The collection presently constitutes the most complete and up-to-date compilation of such scientific information in the world.
